Eclipse

On April 8, 2024, the Grey and Bruce area will be affected by a total solar eclipse. A solar eclipse is when the moon covers the sun resulting in the moon casting a shadow over the Earth. A total solar eclipse is when the moon completely covers the sun, a rare natural phenomenon. This will be the first total eclipse visible in southern Ontario since 1925, with the next one being projected for 2144. During this event there will be a period on the Earth’s surface where the sun appears to be completely covered by the moon for a short time.

The following timeline is understood for the solar event taking place on April 8, 2024:

2:04:41 pm - Partial eclipse begins
3:18:15 pm - Full eclipse begins
3:19:53 pm - Maximum
3:21:30 pm - Full eclipse ends
4:31:49 pm - Partial eclipse ends

Experts recommend that people do not look directly into the sun during an eclipse. Clients may inadvertently look at the eclipse in the process of riding on a Saugeen Mobility vehicle (by looking at the sky for example) and could potentially cause damage to their vision.

Please keep this in mind for the eclipse.
